Why Can’t a King Cry?

Since when, can a King, be seen not to cry?

For ten days in mourning. ten days passeth by.

He held his own, held his head so high.

On the day, of committal, into the ground,

Summoned every ounce of composure,

That could be found.

Laying his Mother, his Queen, to rest,

He did, what the British, always do best.

His duty, to that, he did attest.

Those watching close, they did spy,

A tear, that gathered, upon his left eye.

As he bid, his mummy, a heartfelt goodbye.

It’s easy to forget, as the angels did sing,

As the bells, out, they did ring.

The human, behind, our new King.

But in that moment, during his immeasurable loss,

All thoughts of his failings,

Right then were lost.

In that second, I felt his pain,

A pain he’ll feel, again and again.

Until the end, of his days of reign.

A newfound respect, I garnered there,

For our new King,

Our newfound heir.

Since when, can a King, be seen not to cry.

I wish someone…

Could tell me why?

Her Majesty, The Queen, Elizabeth II

With elegance, and unsurpassed grace,

Our beautiful Queen lit up every space,

In loyal duty, until the end,

Events and ceremonies, she’d attend.

A wondrous Queen, full of fun and wit,

She even did a Paddington skit.

Parachuting, with James Bond,

Our Queen, of whom, we’d become so fond.

In the longest reign, virtuous and kind,

Our monarch, was thus defined.

Her rule may be over, but our memories nest,

In peace, with Philip, now may she rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars

Couldn’t put it down!!!!

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 August 2022

Mind Blood is a brilliant little book of short stories – some had me thinking… One or two made me giggle and a few were quite impossible not to question if it could happen to you… or has it yet to happen?? So many little twists and lots of blood – my poor brain has had to have a holiday!! Well done to David for a book I can pick up again and again to quench my thirst of little short stories without having to leave the light on but keep me awake thinking… Drip Drip drip… Is anybody there? It’s just a book… Let your imagination run amok with this little gem of a book. Go on. I dare you.
