Access Denied – Wonderful feedback from a reader.

Just received some lovely, utterly wonderful, feedback, from a reader of Access Denied.

“Just wanted to say that I loved your book. I couldn’t put it down, you were right, which hasn’t happened to me for a long time, especially with a book which is written in another language than my mother tongue, which always requires more energy and attention to read for me.”

I asked if it made her cry, and she said, “Yes, several times.”

David had always been a doting father to his daughter, but when his relationship fell apart, he found himself in a bitter battle. Despite his best efforts, he lost access to his daughter and was left heartbroken. To make matters worse, he also had to fight against the Child Support Agency (CSA). Determined to get access to his daughter back, David fought tirelessly in family court and against the CSA, navigating the complex legal system and facing numerous obstacles along the way. This is the story of one man’s struggle to reunite with his daughter and the lengths he went to in order to make it happen.

Normandy

Normandy

Upon the beach, they landed thus.
They knew their job; they made no fuss.
The ramp lowered, metal met sand,
They landed in this foreign land.

Without a sound, shipmates fell.
Bullets ringing through this hell.
Running forward, to secure the place.
From an evil, fascist, race.

Sinking in sand, feet swamped by tide.
Bodies floating, on either side.
Heat from explosions, searing hot.
As they plough on, through this rot.

Trenching through nests, of barbed wire,
Pushing on, through machine-gun fire.
Taking out turrets, killing those within.
No time to consider, the mortal sin.

Making peace, out of war.
Bodies piled, injured and sore.
We must never forget, never sway.
To always remember, D-Day.
